Early in their meeting on May 15, 2012, the Commissioners went in to Executive Session to select five people from ten applicants they will interview for two part time court house guard positions. The selectees are: Donovan Cumpston, Roger Friend, Bruce Winkeleman, Perry Ferguson, and James McKinney.
Commissioner Sandora refused to approve payment to convert from compensatory time to overtime pay for four people in the Sheriff’s Department because there was no explanation as to what comprised the requests. All of the Commissioners approved the requests for two people in the County Clerk’s office whose requests for the same conversion were accompanied by explanations.
Joye Huff asked the Commissioners to visit the area of her farm affected by the EQT drilling permit prior to the schedule May 22 hearing. At that hearing by the Commission is to consider whether or not to set aside the recession signed by Commissioner Jerry Evans of the EQT permit. Mrs. Huff said a third-party would show them the affected areas. She also asked if her neighbors who would be impacted by the outcome of the meeting on May 22 will be allowed to speak at that time to which Mr. Sandora replied that he would need to speak to the Prosecuting Attorney about the matter.
The Commissioners signed-off on a $1,000 4-H Foundation facilities upgrade grant resolution, a DC Fair facilities upgrade grant resolution for $2,000, and an EDA Rural Jobs Accelerator Grant Approval ($750,000)
Due to lack of bids received, the Commissioners tabled review of estimates for repair of the museum entrance porch roof, the porches of the Law Enforcement Annex, and the courthouse porch roof.
An agenda item to have been addressed by Sandy White, Treasurer of the EDA, to request the part time position of EDA Director be converted from a contract job to a county employee job as recommended by the WV State Auditor was tabled. Mrs. White did not appear at the meeting.
