Lessons Learned From Friday's Storm says Doddridge County OES
Friday's storm has served as a lesson learned and can be a help to emergency services in the future for The Doddridge County Office of Emergency Services. Even some fire departments lost power over the weekend and did not have back up generators, said Doddridge County Emergency Services Director Pat Heaster.
"Only two of the departments had back-up systems. And that's one of the projects we're working on. We're trying to get some grant money and other opportunities," said Heaster. Currently four of the counties fire stations do not have back-up power generators.
According to Heaster, as of Tuesday morning, 1,200 Doddridge County residents were still waiting for their power to be restored. He also said that 60 percent of the county was without phone service.
Heaster encourages anyone still in need to dial 911.
