Salem's Ex-city manager David Mayle, was convicted by a Harrison County jury on Tuesday (10/16) on six counts of embezzlement, and additionally of falsifying accounts and conspiracy.
Harrison County Prosecutors had originally brought indictments against Mayle and former city clerk Sherry Olenick for embezzling thousands of dollars from the city.
Lead investigator, Lieutenant P.B. McCarty of the Harrison County Sheriff's Department and Sherry Olenick provided testimony to the jury. Former clerk Olenick had previously pleaded guilty to one felony count of falsifying and one count of felony conspiracy to embezzle. At that time she agreed to cooperate in the counties case against Mayle.
Sentencing for Mayle is scheduled for December 12 at 9 a.m. in Clarksburg. He will be able to remain free until then on a previously posted $10,000 bond.
