United Hospital Center has appointed Rolando F. Cunanan, M.D., FAAFP, as Medical Director of the Hyperbaric Medicine Center. Dr. Cunanan is a Hyperbaric Medicine and Wound Care Specialist at the UHC Wound Care Center. He is now seeing patients and providing Wound Care to the UHC service area of more than 200,000 individuals.
This area of medicine involves a comprehensive approach to non-healing wounds that includes evaluation, treatment, instructions in home care and, when appropriate, hyperbaric oxygen treatment. Dr. Cunanan is a full time wound care and hyperbaric specialist. Board certified in Family Practice, Dr. Cunanan received his medical degree from St. Luke’s College of Medicine, Manila, Philippines. He completed his undergraduate degrees in Chemistry and Biology from West Virginia University in Morgantown, W.Va.
A native of Bridgeport, W.Va., Dr. Cunanan completed his family medicine residency at United Hospital Center. He also obtained additional training in hyperbaric medicine and problem wound management at Diversified Clinical Services in Houston, Texas.
The UHC Wound Care Center is the region’s resource for diagnosing and treating patients with chronic non-healing wounds - including wounds that have been slow to respond to traditional healing treatment regimens. A multidisciplinary team provides comprehensive care along with customized education for our patients and their wounds caused by diabetes, circulatory problems (arterial and venous), traumatic injuries, surgery, radiation, and other conditions.
