I am hard working and loyal having worked two jobs for the past 15 years, including Kelley's Sunoco for over 22 years and the United States Postal Service for over 15 years. My wife Susan works in the county as a nurse at Doddridge Family Medicine and our children attend Doddridge County Schools. My father Howard Headley was a mail carrier for more than 40 years in Doddridge County and my father-in-law, Charles Ford, is a lifelong county resident.
The message of my campaign is simple. As the county's chief law enforcement officer I will be accessible to all residents. I will create a non-political, budget sensitive department that will focus its resources on improving public safety throughout Doddridge County. I have an understanding of the law and the criminal justice system. I have an acute awareness of the need for a strong presence of law enforcement in Doddridge County. I feel obligated to help create a positive change for our community.
As Sheriff, I will continually look for the best practices in law enforcement, including those in other counties and states that can be adopted to keep up with the ever changing criminal element. I will develop a good working relationship with the other county agencies, specifically the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney, County Commission, and other law enforcement agencies. I do not want to continue the thinking that it has always been this way so there is no need to make changes. Since I have no direct ties to the current Sheriff's Department I will be able to look at it objectively and make the necessary changes.
The Sheriff must be a visable leader in good times and bad. I will seek out opportunites to make the presence of the Sheriff's Office known throughout the county. I Plan to provide special assistance to our most precious resources, our senior citizens and our youth. The time is now to develop a level of service second to none. A vote for me is a vote for honesty and dependability; I would greatly appreciate your support in the 2012 election for Sheriff.
Sincerely,
Michael T. "Mike" Headley
