William Paul McCutchan, 98 of Wood St. West Union
departed this life on Saturday, October 13, 2012
in his residence.
He was born on May 11, 1914 at Straight Run, Lewis County a son of the late George F. and Sarah Means McCutchan. On November 6, 1933 he married Virginia Lee Bush McCutchan who preceded him in death on November 6, 1998.
Surviving is one daughter, Phyllis M. Steele and husband Lewis, West Union, one son, Ralph P. McCutchan and wife Ida May, Deep Valley, one daughter-in-law, Barbara Jo McCutchan, Beech Bottom, WV, 10 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, 17 great great grandchildren, one brother, Bernard G. McCutchan, Fink, WV. He was preceded in death by, one son, William George McCutchan, one grandson, one great great grandson, three sisters, Jean Droppleman, Pauline Wade, Bernadine Flescher and one brother, Glenn B. McCutchan.
Paul attended a two-room school (Conroy) in his earlier years and later graduated from Weston High School in 1932. He was a Timber & Oil & Gas Contractor as a dozer operator. Paul was a member of Friendship Lodge #56 AF & AM, a 32 degree Scottish Rite Mason with membership in Clarksburg & Wheeling Bodies, and a member of Nemesis Shrine, Parkersburg. He was a member of the West Union Church of Christ. Paul was National Vice President of Future Farmers of America and was the oldest surviving national officer. He enjoyed feeding the deer and turkeys at his pond.
Funeral services will be conducted in the Spurgeon Funeral Home 212 Front St. West Union on Monday, October 15, 2012 at 2:00PM with Evangelist Terry Varner presiding. Interment will follow in the Masonic Memorial Park, West Union. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel on Sunday, October 14, 2012 from 2-8PM and after 9AM on Monday until time of service.
