Last year's flooding by Irene and "Snowtober" power outages have people in the Northeast gun-shy for problems from Hurricane Sandy. Though Sandy's impacts are a few days away for the Northeast, people are beginning to prepare for the storm.
Depending on the exact track of the storm, there could be a broad corridor of power outages early next week, including the NYC and Boston metro areas. Flooding rains and damaging winds will be major affects from the storm. A storm surge of 5 to 10 feet is possible to the northeast of the storm's center.
